Jay Kay’s Classic Car Collection

Many of you will be aware of Jay Kay’s keen interest in cars. The 42 year old music star, who fronts the band Jamiroquai, has sold around 30 million records in a period of 20 years so, rumour has it, he is not short of a few pounds.

Jay Kay has over 50 classic cars in his collectionHe has appeared on Top Gear to take part in a time trial around the track driving a modern vehicle and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and doing very well into the bargain.

Jay Kay has a collection of in excess of 50 beautiful classic cars that are kept in a number of modern garages and he has very recently taken on a manager to help him look after the extensive and very valuable collection as he has his music commitments.

He views his interest in classic cars as both a passion and a business investment.

His first car as a 22 year old was a BMW 1602 and he has recently re-purchased the car that now awaits restoration.

He used to, shall we say, put his foot down a little too much when driving, resulting in a number of speeding fines.

He admitted: “I have slowed down and some of the cars, like the [Ferrari] Enzo have become an exercise in self-restraint to drive… it’s a bit of a licence loser. In my mind, there’s a time and a place for putting your foot down.”

He is pleased with his current classic car collection that includes some rare BMWs, a Mercedes Benz 300SL, two V12 Ferraris including a Ferrari 330GT Vignale, Bentleys, Porsches including a Porsche 911 2.7 RS and Aston Martins including an Aston Martin DB6 Mark 1 Volante automatic. He does feel that he is a motoring heritage guardian.

It doesn’t bear thinking about how much his classic car insurance premiums are each year to insure his extensive range of classic vehicles!
