Theft Of Classic Cars On The Increase

It is believed that the number of classic cars that are being stolen is on the increase. This is undoubtedly a worrying factor for those of you that are the proud owners of such vehicles. However, it is one thing to have classic car insurance but nobody really wants to have to go through the undoubted stress of having to deal with the after effects of a car theft.

classic car thieves are on the increase

What is the likelihood of one of these classic cars being stolen?

So, how can you reduce the likelihood of your dearly beloved old faithful classic car being stolen?

Well, you could avoid leaving it parked on the road outside your home or even on your drive. Surely, it is better out of sight of the eyes of potential classic car thieves so are you not better making sure that it is locked in your garage whenever it is not being used? Many owners of classic cars put their car in the garage over night but don’t bother to do so during the daytime. This is not a sensible course of action! It may seem a bit of an inconvenience but lock it away out of sight whenever you can.

You could have security devices fitted such as a steering wheel lock and an alarm plus a tracking device. Yes, this is an initial expense but could prove to be money well spent over the long term. Make sure that you place a sticker on the window to show that it is alarmed to the potential thief.

If you store your car away from your home in something like a lock-up that may be a little out of the way you could consider not driving it straight back to its storage location to leave it. Instead, you could drive it around to one or two different places, leaving it unattended for a few minutes but still under observation so that the potential thief doesn’t find out its true location that you eventually end up driving it back to.

Hopefully the above will help reduce the possibility of your classic car being stolen.
