There is great interest in classic cars not only here in the UK but in many other countries throughout the world. So, what makes you decide which make of classic car to buy?

Well, price is more often than not a factor for most classic car enthusiasts. Many people would love to own a Ferrari 250 GTO but, when you consider one was sold last year for a record breaking $52 million, not many could afford to buy one. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for and classic cars are no different.

The majority of us have a budget to work within when making our choice of classic car. Some will have the funds available in a savings account but others may choose to borrow the monies to buy a vehicle.

Another reason why someone favours a make of classic car over another is because a member of the family already has one and they prefer to retain an interest in a car that they have got to know well over the years. They may have restored the vehicle and serviced it themselves so are familiar with its positive and negative points.

You may be interested in a particular period in history and prefer to own a car that was seen on the roads at that time. As a general rule, the further back in time you go the more expensive the car although the rarity factor also has a significant bearing on price.

You may have seen a classic car in a TV series that you enjoyed watching and feel that you would love to own one. For instance, this could be a Mk2 Ford Granada seen in the well-known police series called The Sweeney.

Your father may have owned a Ford Capri when you were a youngster and you have the urge to drive one yourself.

So, as you can see there are so many reasons to select a certain classic car to own. Why not tell us what made you chose yours.
