Classic car enthusiasts will no doubt agree that, under normal circumstances, the sale of around 1,300 classic vehicles for in excess of \u00a380,000 wouldn\u2019t attract too much attention. However, the vehicles we are referring to are Matchbox cars and other types of vehicle that someone has presumably spent many years collecting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier in September, Vectis Auctions Ltd ran the Danny James 1975 to 1982 Superfast Collection and from the sound of things the auction attracted a great deal of interest with buyers from various countries around the world. The vehicles were sold individually so the collection has been broken up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presumably, Danny James had mixed feelings when the classic Matchbox cars and other vehicles went under the hammer. In one respect, he will no doubt be pleased at collectively how much the vehicles sold for with some achieving sale prices of far in excess of the estimated price. On the other hand, he will possibly miss the collection that he had presumably spent an awful long time in accumulating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apparently, a Matchbox Superfast 4c Pontiac Firebird that had an estimated sale price of between \u00a3400 to \u00a3500 achieved a sale price of \u00a31,400. It was a factory pre-production colour trial in mint condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Matchbox Superfast 9c Ford Escort 2000 that had an estimated sale price of between \u00a3300 to \u00a3400 actually was sold for \u00a32,300. It was a factory pre-production colour trial. It had a red body. The interior was Dark Tan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Matchbox Superfast 12d Citroen CX Estate had an estimated sale price of between \u00a3300 to \u00a3400 but ended up being sold for \u00a31,900. It was a factory pre-production colour trial. It had metallic emerald green bodywork. The interior was dark yellow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
