Every quarter, Confused.com that is a very well known price comparison website produces its car insurance price index. You can read the full report on the Confused.com website but we thought we would mention just a few of the things contained in the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The average cost of fully comprehensive car insurance in the UK in the third quarter of 2026 amounted to \u00a3713 per annum. This is a small drop of \u00a36 per annum when compared with the second quarter in 2026 when such premiums averaged \u00a3719 per annum. It is an average of \u00a32 per annum more than it was in the first quarter of 2026 but is an average of \u00a313 per annum less than the fourth quarter of 2025 and an average of \u00a321 per annum below the figure in the third quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You are possibly aware that the amount car insurance companies charge their policyholders is based upon a number of things such as how old a diver is and where the driver lives and keeps his or her car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For instance, it will probably not come as too much of a surprise to read that it is the younger motorist who, on average, pays more for his or her car insurance as they are more likely to be involved in a road traffic accident in comparison to a 50 year old with many years driving experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an example, in the third quarter of 2026, a motorist in the 17 to 20 year old age bracket is charged an average of \u00a31,860 per annum, a driver aged between 30 to 39 pays an average of \u00a3843 per annum and a motorist aged between 60 to 69 pays on average \u00a3457 per annum. As you can see, there is a huge variance in the cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, if you live in Inner London, on average, you will pay more for your car insurance than in any other region. Premiums in this region averaged \u00a31,079 per annum. If you happen to live in the West Midlands, premiums average \u00a3781 per annum. If you reside in the South West, car insurance premiums average \u00a3550 per annum. The cheapest region in the UK for car insurance is Wales \u2013 Central & North with premiums averaging \u00a3517 per annum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
