Most family homes have had some make of Ford parked on the drive from the 1970\u2019s to the early part of the new millennium.<\/p>\n

Below are just some of those vehicles that can now claim to be classic cars.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>1974 Escort Mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n

Did you realise that the Ford Mexico is a very sought after classic car fetching about \u00a320,000 for a good one.<\/p>\n

It only has a 1.6 litre 88bhp engine that achieves only around 100mph. However, because nothing is assisted, you are aware of everything that happens with even the manual steering being light and a superb gear change.\u00a0 Rally brakes make sure you stop on time.<\/p>\n

A great car to have fun in with just sufficient performance to get the rear of the car to slide very gently.<\/p>\n

Inside there is enough room to feel at ease.<\/p>\n

1978 Granada 3.0 GL<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rather fittingly The Sweeney is shortly to appear as a film and for those of you who were around in the 1970\u2019s you will remember the car that John Thaw drove in the series.<\/p>\n

The car looks the part but unfortunately the inside is not so pleasing to the eye with lots of plastic and velour.<\/p>\n

The above engine produced a mere 138bhp but pulling power was good and performance to get to 60mph was impressive. However, don\u2019t expect this car to be frugal on the fuel as you will only achieve about 18mpg. Handling is acceptable with a soft ride although if you really put your foot down road handling will deteriorate rapidly.<\/p>\n

2000 Racing Puma <\/strong><\/p>\n

A real fun car to drive with a very firm ride creating the feeling that perhaps you should be driving it on a race circuit rather than the public road.<\/p>\n

Straight-line speed is not good but this is more than compensated for by the thrill of throwing it around bends.<\/p>\n
