Second Production Land Rover Built To Be Auctioned

If you are a classic car enthusiast and have a particular interest in Land Rovers then you may like to know that a rather special Land Rover is shortly to be auctioned here in the UK. It is special because it is the 2nd production one to be manufactured.

It is a 1948 Land Rover Series 1 80” 4×4 Utility and has an estimated sale price of between £100,000 to £150,000 so you will need a sizeable bank balance if you are keen to bid for it.

It is to be sold at Bonhams Goodwood Revival Collectors’ Motor Cars and Automobilia auction that takes place on the 9th September 2023.

Interestingly, the Land Rover was originally intended to be built on a small scale and for a short time but the manufacturer no doubt built a great reputation and the last Land Rover Defender came off the production line in 2016.

Its current owner has had the classic vehicle for more than 15 years and sounds like it is one of several Series 1 Land Rovers owned by that person.

The vehicle was restored in the 2000s and is said by the current owner to be in excellent condition.

Its bodywork and interior is in light green. It still has its original 1600cc engine.

Whilst writing, there are many other classic cars being auctioned at the above event such as a 1962 Aston Martin DB4 Series IV Sports Saloon that has an estimated sale price of £325,000 to £385,000. It is said to be in excellent condition and was restored between 1998 to 2000. Since being restored it has only done about 20,000 miles.

If you like the idea of driving around on a hot summer’s day in an open-topped classic sports car then perhaps a 1961 MG Midget MK1 Roadster by Brabham may capture your imagination. It has an estimated sale price of £20,000 to £30,000. It was restored between 2008 and 2016. Apparently, it is said to be the only surviving MG Midget that was Brabham tuned.

You can see many other classic cars that are to be auctioned at the above event on Bonhams website.
