Classic Mercedes-Benz Once Owned By Elvis Presley Sold At Auction

Elvis Presley is renowned worldwide as one of the greatest pop stars of all time who also appeared in a number of films but he sadly passed away many years ago. It is probably not surprising that he was able to afford to own a couple of prestigious Mercedes-Benz cars with one of them having recently sold at auction.

Bringatrailer.com recently auctioned a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 600 Saloon Limousine and it achieved a sale price of $288,888. (Circa £213,000) Presumably one of the reasons why it achieved the price it did was due to the fact that it had been owned by such a famous person as Elvis Presley.

It was one of only 2.190 of these vehicles built so it is quite rare. Although a heavy vehicle it was quite nippy having a V8 6.3 litre engine being capable of getting from 0 to 60mph in just short of 10 seconds and was capable of reaching a speed that exceeded 125mph. It had separate air conditioning for passengers in the front and rear and came with a four speed automatic gearbox. It had hydraulically controlled seating making it very versatile. It has a black leather interior. Apparently, the odometer reveals a mileage of 60,500 making it a low mileage for this age of vehicle. It is believed that Elvis Presley paid $15,500 for the car and took out a loan towards the purchase of the vehicle.

We wonder if the new owner is an Elvis Presley fan?
