Ferrari Once Owned By Steve Mcqueen To Be Auctioned

Most of you will have heard of the famous actor Steve McQueen who passed away many years ago back in 1980 at the age of 50. Some of you may even have watched one or more of his films. Well, a desirable classic car once owned by the film star is to be auctioned later this year.

RM Sotheby’s is to hold the renowned Monterey auction of classic cars on the 18th and 19th August 2023 in California, USA, This auction will feature some extremely valuable classic vehicles so if you do fancy a trip to it then you will need very deep pockets.

The car in question is a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 by Scaglietti. Its coachwork is in a beautiful deep red and needless to say the vehicle looks stunning. It may have an estimated sale price of between £4 to £5 million plus.

Steve McQueen who appeared in such films as Bullitt, Le Mans and the Great Escape to name but a few owned the car for over 4 years from the late 1960s. The car was originally painted in silver but was subsequently repainted in red as mentioned above.

This car was restored between 2010 and 2013 with an awful lot of work being done to it to return it to its former glory. It has a 3.3 litre V12 engine producing 300 bhp with a top speed of around 165mph. It is undoubtedly a nippy sports car.

It will be interesting to see how much attention is given to this wonderful classic car when it is offered for sale in the summer. There can be no doubt that it will command greater interest than a Ferrari normally gets due to the connection with such a famous film star as the late Steve McQueen. Such a classic car being offered for sale is no doubt a rarity so there could be quite a few bidders on the day
