If you are a follower of FI as well as being a classic car enthusiast you are probably aware that Lewis Hamilton’s father Anthony Hamilton attended many of his races around the world and used to manage him. Lewis Hamilton has been FI Champion on 7 occasions over the years and is currently racing for Ferrari in the hope that he can win a record breaking 8th FI Championship.
Well, Anthony Hamilton has recently sold 27 of his classic car collection at a recent auction run by Iconic Auctioneers. The vehicles were sold for around £2.9 million.
The classic car achieving the highest sale price was a Jaguar XJ220 that achieved a sale price of £506,250. Apparently, a mere 69 right hand cars were built for the UK market making it an extremely rare model. This classic car only had 3,277 miles on the clock. Its bodywork is in Silverstone Green Metallic.
You may also find it of interest to read that 5 more of his cars were sold for in excess of £100,000 each. Perhaps this just goes to show that despite the difficult financial situation around the world at the moment there are still classic car enthusiasts with money available to buy what they consider to be a suitable classic car.
You cannot help but wander how much impact was had on the sale prices the cars fetched because of who the owner of the vehicles was and the connection the owner had with such a great racing driver as Lewis Hamilton. It would also be interesting to find out if Lewis Hamilton ever drover any of the classic cars that his father has sold.
It would be interesting to know how much he paid for the classic cars originally to see if he made a profit when selling them and just how much that profit was.
